Campaigns
We want to support you to make change happen both at St Mary's and beyond!
Here are the steps for developing a Union recognised campaign:
- Figure out what the issue is and fill out our Campaign Proposal Form.
- We'll help you conduct research into the issue, whether that's through the course rep system, a survey or focus groups
- We'll support you in taking it to the right people who can make change happen - whether that's a University meeting, a staff member or Union Council
Here's what we can support you with when developing a campaign:
- Access to SMSU campaigning funds
- Access to campaigning knowledge to help you reach the right people, faster
- Access to SMSU's social media to help promote your campaign and spread the word
- Use of SMSU's logo
Sabbatical officer connections and lobbying power
National network of Students' Unions and sabbatical officers, to help you make change on a national scale.
Campaigns could be on anything that matters to you, but here are some ideas of campaigns we've worked on in the past or are developing at the moment:
- Zero-tolerance policy to sexual harassment and assault
- Increase the availabilty of learning resources
- Scrap the dyslexia diagnosis fee
- Grow sustainability initiatives including creating a Simmie Swapshop
- Ramadan Unity Fast
