A Senior Resident has a very important job role from upholding the contract to welcoming students to university life. Senior Residents tend to live in halls and are usually in their second or third years.

  • For at least the past 5 years SR's have received a discount of £900 off their rent.
  • This amount should be increased, as the relief this gave 5 years ago to student is not the same relief it gives today.
  • The price of accommodation and living costs have increased but the discount for this very important role has not.
  • The maintenance loan does not cover the rent for most students.
  • As Senior residents this discount is a very big incentive and relief.
  • For third years students the maintenance loan is lower regardless meaning third year SR's may rely on this discount more
  • To Make this role more desirable and competitive an increase in benefits for being an Senior resident should be investigated and expanded..

  • Improvements for this role:

Increase the £900.00 discount off the rent to reflect the cost of living.

To help ensure SR's are looking after their well-being, encourage regular exercise, via a GYM membership at St Marys, included for their role.

Free tickets to events by the university. Events such as Freshers week, Varsity, discos, summer / winter Balls and Dinners.
